The Greek word "Chelona", meaning turtle, symbolises our business philosophy. Just as a tortoise sees more of the road than a hare, we also take the time to create the ideal match for the parties working with us. What sets us apart is our commitment to quality and a personalised approach. We believe that it is not just about placing candidates, but rather about creating lasting relationships that contribute to high-quality healthcare services. Therefore, we take the time to carefully understand the needs and wishes of both the healthcare professional and the healthcare institution.

About Xanthippe
Xanthippe Verbist (b. 1991) is the beating heart behind Chelona, and that can be taken quite literally. As managing director and professional matchmaker, Xanthippe embodies Chelona's business philosophy. With a degree in applied work & organisational psychology, extensive HR experience and specialisation in recruitment, she founded Chelona in February 2017. Her company was born out of the need to do things differently. No quick filling of vacancies or placement of candidates ... no, for Xanthippe the human aspect prevails. She takes the time to understand the needs of both the healthcare professional and the healthcare institution and is available to them day and night as a sparring partner and confidant. Xanthippe helps healthcare professionals realise their international career dreams and assists healthcare institutions in their - often difficult - search for dedicated and competent employees. By carefully matching them, it aims to create lasting relationships that contribute to high-quality healthcare provision worldwide.
That she lives up to that mission is proven, among other things, by the public award she received as 'Antwerp young entrepreneur of the year' in 2023.
